you a granted free license to use, copy and distribute this

Roul1S .Arc - Shareware Version of Roulette.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
You must have an IBM PC/XT/AT/PS2 or TRUE compatible, at least
350K of free Ram, an EGA graphics adapter, and a MicroSoft
compatible mouse to play Roulette. The files required to play
Roulette are ROULETTE.EXE, ROUL01.INF, ROUL02.INF and
ROUL03.INF. These files must be present on your play disk
or directory. Use the "Copy" command found in your DOS
manual for making copies from one disk to another. A hard
disk is recommended but not required. NOTE: ROUL03.INF
available on the Registered version only.
SHAREWARE VS REGISTERED VERSION
Roulette is written in two versions, a ShareWare version and
a Registered version. The ShareWare version is not crippled
in any way. This is a fully functional program of Roulette
. The Registered version comes with added features which will
allow the user more flexibility with Roulette. Users of
the ShareWare version will have a message appear at the end
of the game. The message will state that the program is
NOT free and continued use of the program requires
registration with United Innovations Plus.
To register Roulette, fill in the registration form on the
last page of this documentation and send in the required
registration fee.

The following documentation for Roulette explains all the
features for the Registered version. The words "Registered
Version Only" may appear throughout the documentation. These
are the added features which are available in the Registered
version ONLY.
ROULETTE WHEEL
The Roulette wheel has 38 pockets containing the numbers 1
through 36, O and OO. The numbers on the wheel are laid out in
circular fashion as to separate them by color, high, low, odd,
and even. The symbols O and OO are directly opposite each
other, separated by eighteen numbers on each side. The symbols
O and OO are green in color. The remaining numbers are red and
black which alternate in color around the wheel.
ROULETTE LAYOUT
The main portion of the layout is comprised of 36 numbered
rectangular spaces arranged in three long columns of 12 spaces
each. The spaces at the head of the rows are numbered 1, 2, 3.
The numbering continues in sequence across the rows, ending with
34, 35, 36. There are 2 spaces located at the left side of the
first row of 1, 2, 3. These 2 spaces contain the symbols O and
OO.
Along the front side of the long columns are three rectangular
spaces marked: 1st. 12, 2nd. 12, and 3rd. 12. Along the front
side of these spaces are 6 rectangular spaces marked: 1-18,
Even, Red, Black, Odd, 19-36.
At the end of each of the long columns of 12 numbers is a space
marked 2:1 (2 to 1).
WAGER TYPES
There are 8 different types of wagers that can be made on the
Roulette layout. The following is a chart showing the possible
types of wagers:
Straight Bet
Split Bet
Street Bet
Square Bet
Line Bet
Column Bet
Dozen Bet
Even Money Bet

WAGERS, BETTING LOCATIONS, & ODDS
Each of the 8 wager types can be broken down into a total of 154
different locations where a player may place a wager on the
layout. The following will explain each of the possible wagers,
betting location, Casino payoff odds, and betting limits.
Straight Bet
Betting on a single number is known as a Straight bet. The
numbers 1 through 36, O and OO make a total of 38 possible
Straight bets. Your bet must be placed squarely on a number so
as not to be confused with any other type of bet.
Betting Limit: $25 Payoff Odds: 35 to 1
Split Bet
Betting on two numbers at the same time is known as a Split bet.
Your bet must be placed on any line separating and two numbers.
There are a total of 58 possible Split bets. When making a
Split bet on O and OO, there are two locations where this bet
may be placed. You may place your bet on the line separating O
and OO or you may place your bet on the line separating the 2nd.
12 and 3rd. 12. Either betting location is an acceptable bet
for a Split bet of O and OO.
Betting Limit: $5O Payoff Odds: 17 to 1
Street Bet
Betting on three numbers at the same time is known as a Street
bet. Your bet must be placed on the outside line of a row.
Example: Placing a bet on the line separating the number 1 and
the 1st. 12 is a Street bet that covers the numbers 1, 2, and 3.
There are a total of 12 possible Street bets.
Betting Limit: $75 Payoff Odds: 11 to 1
Square Bet
Betting on four numbers at the same time is known as a Square
bet. Your bet must be placed on any intersection of the lines
between any four numbers. There are a total of 22 possible
Square bets.
Betting Limit: $100 Payoff Odds: 8 to 1
Line Bet
Betting on six numbers at the same time is known as a Line bet.
Your bet must be placed on the outside line intersecting two
numbers. There are a total of 12 possible Line bets. One of
the Line bets will only cover 5 numbers. The bet will cover the

numbers O, OO, 1, 2, & 3. Your bet must be placed on the
outside line intersecting the two numbers O and 1.
Line Bet on 5 numbers
Betting Limit: $100 Payoff Odds: 6 to 1
Line Bet on 6 numbers
Betting Limit: $100 Payoff Odds: 5 to 1
Column Bet
Placing a bet on one of the 3 spaces marked 2:1 is known as a
Column bet. Example: Placing a bet on the middle 2:1 space
covers the numbers 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, and
35. You are playing 12 numbers at the same time. There are a
total of 3 possible Column bets.
Betting Limit: $250 Payoff Odds: 2 to 1
Dozen Bet
Placing a bet on either the 1st. 12, 2nd. 12, or 3rd. 12 is
known as a Dozen bet. Example: Placing a bet on the 2nd. 12
space covers the numbers 13 through 24. You are playing 12
numbers at the same time. There are a total of 3 possible Dozen
bets.
Betting Limit: $250 Payoff Odds: 2 to 1
Even Money Bet
Placing a bet on any of the 6 spaces marked 1-18, Even, Red,
Black, Odd, or 19-36 are Even Money bets.
1-18 Covers the numbers 1 through 18.
19-36 Covers the numbers 19 through 36.
Even Covers the even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8 etc.).
Odd Covers the odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 etc).
Red Covers the red numbers.
Black Covers the black numbers.
There are a total of 6 possible Even Money bets.
Betting Limit: $500 Payoff Odds: 1 to 1
The maximum allowable bet on the Roulette table is $500. These
bets and limits may vary from one Casino to another.

STARTING ROULETTE
From your DOS prompt, type ROULETTE and press the ENTER key.
In order for Roulette to run, you must be logged onto the
directory where ROULETTE.EXE, ROUL01.INF, ROUL02.INF and
ROUL03.INF reside.
The first screen you see will be the boot screen. This will
display the copyright notice and version number of Roulette. A
message will be displayed on the bottom of the screen asking you
to press a mouse button.
The next screen you see will be the Roulette table layout.
You will be playing Roulette from this screen.
ROULETTE TABLE OPTIONS
The lower portion of the Roulette layout screen will display
some of the options you have available. Your available options
will depend on whether you are using the ShareWare version or
the Registered version. All the options will be a rectangular
yellow button with the function written inside.

SELECTING OPTIONS
To select one of the options, move the mouse cursor over to the
selection of your choice and press one of the mouse buttons.

TABLE OPTION FUNCTIONS
Spin Wheel
When you choose "Spin Wheel", you will be viewing Roulette
wheel spinning. Due to lack of space and clarity, only 3
numbers will be shown at any one time. When the wheel comes to
a stop, the Roulette ball will bounce between the 3 remaining
numbers before coming to a stop. Once the ball has come to a
complete stop, the winning spaces on the Roulette layout will
light up. If you have a bet on the winning number or if the
winning number is covered by one of the Wager types, you are a
winner.
Setup Menu (Registered Version Only)
Selecting this option will allow Registered users to change the
current settings of Roulette (See Setup Options).
View Wheel
Selecting this option will display the Roulette wheel.
Statistics (Registered Version Only)
Selecting this option will allow Registered users to view a
statistics screen. This screen will display a running count of
how many times each number has appeared. This will also display
a running count for the Column, Dozen, and Even Money spaces.
High Scores (Registered Version Only)
Selecting this option will allow Registered users to view the
top fifteen high scores (See High Scores).
Replace Last Bets (Registered Version Only)
In Roulette, all losing bets are removed from the layout after
the spin of the wheel. Winning bets remain on the layout.
Selecting this option will replace all your previous bets made
on the last spin of the wheel. Your current bets are held in
memory for this option after you spin the wheel.
Erase All Bets
Selecting this option will remove any bets currently on the
layout. You cannot replace these bets with "Replace Last Bets",
described above.
Selecting Chips
The section marked "Chip Selection" and "Current Chip" will
allow you to select the value of you betting chip. Select the
value of your bet by moving your mouse cursor over the value of
the chip you wish to bet. Press either mouse button to make
that the Current chip value. Future bets will use the Current
chip value.

Quit
Selecting this option will return you to your DOS prompt.
PLACING YOUR BETS
To place any wager on the Roulette layout, move your mouse
cursor to the betting area where you wish to place your bet.
Press the Left mouse button to place the Current chip
value at the location. You may increment your bet by
continually pressing the Left mouse button until the table
limit is reached.
To remove your wager, move your mouse cursor to the betting area
where you currently have a wager and press the Right mouse
button. This will remove your wager from that betting location.
NOTE: When placing a bet, be sure the mouse cursor is close to
the area you wish to have your bet placed. It is suggested that
you experiment in placing bets to get a feel of where the mouse
cursor must be placed for the various types of bets.
CURRENT STATISTICS
In the lower right portion of the screen you will notice the
words, WAGER, PROFIT/LOSS, and SPINS.
Wager
Whenever you place or remove a bet, the amount bet is changed.
This is displayed in the Wager column. After each spin of the
wheel, the result will also be shown in this column. The
result is your profit or loss from each spin of the wheel.
Profit/Loss
In the Profit/Loss column, your current profit/loss is displayed
as you play Roulette. The current profit/loss is started each
time you start playing Craps. Below the current profit/loss is
your total profit/loss. Your total profit/loss will show
you a running total of all your Roulette games.
Spins
The Spins section will display the total spins of the wheel.
This will show the current spins and a running total of the
spins.

SETUP MENU (Registered Users Only)
Selecting the Setup Menu will bring up the following options:

Reset Roulette Statistics
Quit/Leave Setup Menu
SETUP OPTIONS (Registered Users Only)
To change any of the default settings, select the option by
moving the mouse cursor to the option and press either button.
Sound
This will allow you to turn the sound on or off.
Save High Scores
Your scoring may be saved to disk if this option is set to ON.
If this option is set to ON, you will be asked for your name
when you have finished playing Roulette, assuming your
score is high enough for the top 15 scores. Once you have
entered your name, you will not have to enter it again when
asked, just press the ENTER key. The last name entered
becomes the default name.
Show Wheel Movement
Selecting this option will speed up the play of the game. When
this option is set to OFF, you will not view the partial section
of the wheel movement.
Reset Roulette Statistics
Selecting this option will reset all the game statistics to
zero. The only thing that is not reset is the High Scores (See
High Scores).
Quit/Leave Setup Menu
Selecting this option will clear the Setup Menu from your screen
and return you to your Roulette layout.
HIGH SCORES (Registered Version Only)
The Registered version of Roulette will allow the user to save
the high scores or winnings to disk. By selecting "High
Scores" from your Main Options, you will be able to view the top
fifteen players and their scores.

The High Score screen will display a Clear Scores toggle in the
upper right corner. By selecting this, you will be asked to
verify if you really want to clear the High Scores.
To leave the High Score screen, move your cursor to area marked
"Leave High Scores" and press either mouse button.
